Founder and Project Initiator's Message

Target-Aim-Shoot

VS

Target-Shoot-Aim

In 2012, I took my first steps into the world of entrepreneurship, launching my own company right here in Hong Kong. Back then, I was a young undergraduate at CUHK, my mind filled with curiosity about the future, yet my studies were far removed from the realm of business. I did not come from a background of wealth; my resources were limited, my budget to start a company was under 20,000.

CUHK

Navigating the complexities of starting a business felt like navigating a maze. I grappled with numerous challenges and uncertainties - understanding how to incorporate a company, preparing the necessary documents, figuring out what an annual return, M&A/AA were, learning how to prepare IR56B, determining when to hold the AGM, getting familiar with the employee ordinance, knowing how to draft employment contract, getting familiar with social media management, learning how to code a website and code an online database, setting up the invoice and inventory system, and so forth.

Hong Kong, while offering a plethora of agents who could assist with all these tasks, often did so at a high cost. Without substantial financial support and with a determination to minimize costs, The first thing i did was delving into the depths of the eRegistry, investing countless hours to comprehend the process of establishing a company. For someone without a background in business, this proved to be an immense challenge, a hurdle that I believe deters many young aspirants from pursuing their entrepreneurial dreams. This is only the first step of entrepreneurship. As I previously mentioned, there are a lot of steps and progress need to figure out after incorporation. I believe they can save a lot of time if we can help and assist them by our scheme.

Once upon a time, I attended an EMBA seminar held by the Chinese University of Hong Kong. There were 2 phrases "target-aim-shoot" and "target-shoot-aim" to describe two different types of characters to start entrepreneurship. The idea of the HKYBA Entrepreneurs Support Scheme sparkled from this seminar. If you're still in the 'aim' phase, contemplating becoming an entrepreneur and researching the business landscape, our scheme could ignite the 'shoot' phase by providing the encouragement and support you need to transform your business vision into reality. If you're already in the 'shoot' phase, having launched your business but are grappling with various challenges, our scheme could be the vital aid you need. We aim to reduce or even eliminate some costs, allowing you to refocus your resources and energy on the 'aim' part - strategizing and expanding your business. If you don't know what these concepts are, you are welcome to attend the CUHK EMBA seminar also.

With this in mind, I established Hong Kong Youth Business Association Limited. Our mission is to offer guidance to those who, like me, dream of building their own business but are daunted by the complexities of the process. We strive to be a beacon, lighting the way for the next generation of entrepreneurs.
